WHY & WHO
We are excited to testify the Gospel of the Grace of God (Acts 20:24)
ABOUT US
Church Motto
Acts 20:24
But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself,
so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry,
which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
Our Vision
Worship, Serve and Magnify the name of our Sovereign God in spirit and in truth.
Nurture and Build Up the congregation in the reverential fear and knowledge of God.
Proclaim and Propagate Christ as the only true Saviour and Lord to a depraved world.
Teach and Educate souls in the knowledge and practice of the inerrant Word of God.
Disseminate and Defend the most holy faith once delivered to the saints.
OUR BEGINNINGS
Sovereign Hope BP Church was incepted 4 February 2018 in a humble home with like-minded brethren. Our Lord has grown the church, for which we are grateful because without Christ, we can do nothing (John 15:1-5).
The name of the church, “Sovereign” underscores the importance of His sovereign will as He guides and leads His covenant people in this new gospel ministry.
“Hope” speaks of a church with expectant glorious hope that anticipates
and looks forward to the glorious appearing of our great God, our Lord Jesus Christ, in His imminent second coming (Titus 2:13, Revelation 22:7).
Without Christ, it is a hopeless end.
With Christ, an endless hope.
Our reformed church believes in the absolute sovereignty of God
who rules and overrules over the affairs of nations and His Elect. He makes all things happen according to His will (Daniel 4:35). We adhere to the historic reformed creed in the Westminster Confession of Faith (1643-47), to the inspired, sufficient and inerrant Word of God, and to the doctrine of biblical separation. We are committed to defend the faith
(2 Timothy 3:16,17, 2 Corinthians 6:14-18, Jude 3,4).
The Word of God is the infallible standard in all our lives and our church. It is the ultimate authority in our faith and practice. We resolutely proclaim the indestructible Word of God in our Christian preaching, teaching and daily living as it essentially vitalizes our spiritual health and growth (Jeremiah 15:16; Hebrews 4:12).
OUR BELIEFS
What we Profess - Our Doctrine
THE DOCTRINE OF OUR CHURCH IS CONSISTENT WITH “THE REFORMED FAITH” AS EXPRESSED IN THE CONFESSION OF FAITH BY THE HISTORIC WESTMINSTER ASSEMBLY, TOGETHER WITH THE LARGER AND SHORTER CATECHISMS (1643-47).
The chief tenets of the doctrine of the Church, are as follows:
We believe in the divine, verbal and plenary inspiration of the Scriptures in the original languages, their consequent inerrancy and infallibility, and, as the Word of God, the Supreme and final authority in faith and life;
We believe in the one God existing in three co-equal and co-eternal Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit;
We believe that Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and is true God and true man;
We believe that man was created in the image of God, but sinned through the fall of Adam, thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death, which is separation from God, and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature and become sinners in thought,
word and deed;
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died an expiatory death as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who repent of their sins and believe in Him are justified before God on the ground of His shed blood;
We believe in the bodily resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His ascension into Heaven,
and in His exaltation at the right hand of God, where He intercedes for us as our High Priest
and Advocate;
We believe in the personal, visible, and premillennial return of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to judge this world and bring peace to the nations;
We believe that salvation is by grace through faith, not by works, and that all who repent and receive the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour are born again by the Holy Spirit and thereby become the children of God;
We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and to convict
and regenerate the sinner, indwell, guide, instruct and empower the believer for godly living
and service.
We believe that Christ instituted the sacrament of Baptism for believers and their children and the Sacrament of the Lord’s supper, which sacraments shall be observed by His Church till He comes.
We believe in the eternal security, bodily resurrection, and eternal blessedness of the saved and in the bodily resurrection and eternal conscious punishment of the lost; and
We believe in the real, spiritual unity in Christ of all redeemed by His precious blood and the necessity of faithfully maintaining the purity of the Church in doctrine and life according to the Word of God and the Principle and Practice of Biblical Separation (2 Corinthians 6:14–18; Revelation 18:4).

OUR MINISTRIES
These are the following important ministries of the church:
By God’s enabling grace, we strive to grow by His strength to deepen our relationship with Christ through the understanding of sound biblical doctrines.
We encourage our members and their families to be involved in a Sunday school class which include the Adults Sunday School class, Westminster Confession of Faith class, Catechism class and Follow-up class, as we grow together in the knowledge and the fear of our Lord (1 Corinthians 4:1,2).
EVANGELISM & MISSIONS
Paul says we are to be ready always to give an answer for the hope in us when called upon (1 Peter 3:15) and be effectual witnesses for Christ. We are committed to go and share the gospel of Christ and to spread the words of everlasting life as commanded by our Lord Jesus (Luke 24:44-47). Let the Holy Spirit convict the hearts of men unto eternal life (Titus 3:5). For this reason, Sovereign Hope BP Church is compelled by the love of God to fervent gospel church-based evangelism, discipleship and missions both locally and abroad in our neighbouring countries.
We count it a great privilege and a sacred duty to share with others Jesus Christ as the only Way, the Truth and the Life. There are regular mission trips to teach the Word in churches and colleges in Myanmar, India, Indonesia, and other countries as our Lord leads. It is our sincere prayer that our testimony of the pure gospel before men will lead some, through the prompting of the Holy Spirit, to the saving knowledge of Christ with evangelical repentance as He wills (John 14:6,26).
SOVEREIGN HOPE FELLOWSHIP
Luke in Acts 2:42 says, “And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.” And in Acts 9:31 he says, “then had the churches rest throughout all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied.”
The youths of the church meet one Saturday at 3pm every month in church to discuss and grow in the knowledge of God. Relevant life themes are discussed, with the Word of God diligently applied.
AUDIO VISUAL & MUSIC
Music is next to theology as Martin Luther once said.
Our church choir renders hymns of praise to magnify the name of God during
special occasions and exhort the congregation in worship singing. We have the support of the Audio-Visual ministry to ensure Sunday sermons are recorded for all and sundry to view and be edified. A team of pianists are also at hand to serve our Lord on the keyboard.
FOOD & FLORAL
As a church family, we are committed to faithful stewardship and service
to our God and King.
We joyfully give of ourselves as living sacrifices and honour Christ as faithful stewards, with our God-given talents, time and treasure which is our reasonable service (Romans 12:1-2). Faithful members provide food, floral arrangements and/or refreshments for Sunday worship service and/or church seminars as we fellowship together in our Lord (1 Corinthians 4:1,2).
PASTORAL CARE AND COUNSELLING
This is a ministry to reach out and provide both young and old with biblical counselling and spiritual guidance.
